Smitten with Him

grown-up stuff happens here sometimes

Life is Hard (and scary, too)

Life is overwhelming me. So much so, that I am curious how I’ve made it this far.

I mean, my kids are grown and I am 49 years old. Somehow I managed to get married and stay married for 20 years. I found the courage to get a divorce… I’ve interviewed for many jobs, left those jobs for new ones, made friends and met new people, moved from MN to CO…

But, the past couple of years haven’t been going very smoothly for me and life has become increasingly difficult.

Family Business

daughterissues
A really long time ago, when I was very, very young, I remember Saturday afternoon chats with my dad in the basement bathroom.

He was constantly working (both career-work and home-type-work) so that was one of the only times he ever seemed available to me.

Initially I think it caught him off guard when I wandered into his concrete sanctuary, but he humored me.

He humored me long enough that I remember our talks as a “habit” or custom.

An Offer I Had to Refuse

My mom was in town over Indigenous People’s Day weekend.

All in all, things were uneventful and we had a decent enough time.

Red Rocks Park

At Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre

She brought a friend with who had a problem with her mouth filter, especially as she became more tired. That made our final day together a little more biting challenging than I would have preferred.

Moving

(I haven’t been feeling very up to writing lately, but this has been sitting unfinished in my drafts folder for far too long.)

moving

This is NOT all our stuff!

The weekend before Thing #1 and I moved was absolute craziness.

Doom-n-Gloom and Thing #2 were planning on being out of the old apartment by Sunday evening.

Long story short: they weren’t. When the day was over, they hadn’t even moved half of their things. The rest for us to ‘deal with’ until their return Monday evening.

Balloons and Tubing and Moose, Oh My!

Last weekend I went to visit my Dreamboat (“fiancé” – LOL) in Steamboat Springs.

We haven’t seen each other since about two weeks before my trip to St. Louis. A week after he moved to Steamboat, he came into town briefly and I got to have dinner with him.

It’s been a long time, but we text at least once a day and talk once a week.

Plus, there was a Balloon Rodeo!

St. Louis Sk8venture 2016

We had a magnificent time!! There aren’t many skating pictures because I took a lot of video (which, at the time, I did not realize).

Also, there weren’t as many people at the sk8 party as I had anticipated, and most of everyone was local to the area (Illinois, Kansas, Ohio – 2 very sexy brothers from Alabama!). It turns out there were only 150 people there each night. It was a tad bit disappointing, but I saw some of my sk8 family and added a couple to it.

On our drive back, we stopped Sunday night in Kansas City and I skated at Winnwood for their adult night. More people were there than at St. Louis’s actual inter-state sk8 party!

On our way to Sedalia Friday morning to get some coffee! It was a gorgeous morning drive after sleeping at a rest stop in the car Thursday night.

Discussion Ad Nauseam

AtPeaceLast week I was having a huge struggle with my feelings about Mick.

I met this Dreamboat through Tinder while trying to detach from him a bit, expecting it to just be a weekend hookup. That’s not how it turned out.

After my first weekend with Dreamboat, my mother came into town for a couple of days for Thing #2’s graduation. My ex-in-laws were also in town as well as one of the girls’ cousins.

Dreamboat didn’t need much attention. He works 3rd shift and knew my family was in town so we spoke briefly on the phone a couple of times and texted a couple of times, nothing big. I paid an equal amount of attention to Mick.

Unfortunately Mick didn’t think it was enough. Last Monday afternoon he had a tooth removed and he spent the next two days in excruciating pain. I know how that feels and had spent the week prior commiserating with him about toothaches. When I wasn’t around to do that, he got upset. And, because he was deliriously in pain, he was telling himself stories that I was leaving him.

I had lunch with Mick Monday afternoon. I wanted to spend some time with him before everything started to get crazy.

After that, Mom got into town Monday night. I spent Tuesday with mom and daughters. Thing #2’s graduation was Wednesday afternoon. Mom’s flight out was Wednesday night.

It was fast and over in the blink of an eye.

Processing Through…

This Tuesday was Alaska‘s birthday. He asked me to make him an ice cream cake and spend the evening (night) with him.

We had a fun play session with the new riding crop I got him as a gift. He totally loves it. He says it makes a better sound than any of his other impact toys back in Anchorage.

He also managed to fit in a couple smacks with the good ole, tried and true switch that I cut for him a couple months ago (he likes the marks it makes)…

But, that’s not what I am going to tell you about here. LOL!

Before playtime started, we happened to be watching Everybody Hates Chris on MTV and the following commercial for one of their new shows came on:

It’s a new fantasy series!

ON MTV!!!!!

And it looks really fucking good… Thing #1 and I are really excited to find out if it’s as good as it looks.

I mentioned that to Alaska when the commercial finished.
