Smitten with Him

My First Ride

When I was much younger and lived in Minnesota, my youngest uncle would take me out on his dirtbike and we would ride in the ‘woods’ behind my grandparents’ house.

That was almost 35 years ago and the last time I did anything with or on a ‘motorcycle’.

Puzzle Pieces

It wasn’t long after I started messing around with Alaska that I had a painful realization about my “relationship” with my father.

I think it was at the end of the very first night he really spanked me hard and marked me.

As he was holding me in his arms and my ass was glowing red, I started to cry.

I couldn’t remember the last time my father touched me.

In fact, I struggled to remember if he ever had.

That’s probably when I started getting attached.

But Alaska wasn’t emotionally available.

Doing it All By Myself

I spent Valentine’s Day weekend in Phoenix for my 2nd Sk8cation.

The drive was amazing. I took an extra day of driving both ways so I wouldn’t have any problems.

On the way there I went into and through the gorgeous mountains! The check engine light came on in Lil Bear and I started to worry. In my head, I panicked a little, but rationalized things out and started thinking of a plan.

My “New” Car

I’ve decided to name him “Lil Bear”. (I miss my big Bear SO MUCH!)

It took 4 weeks to figure it out, but that’s what I decided.

He’s a little ’99 Subaru Legend GT Sedan with 150,000 miles, rebuilt from salvage.

LilBear

I got a great deal!!

One of my dearest friends helped me until I found the perfect car.

There’s even a Minnesota bumper sticker on the back! When I saw that, I was sure Lil Bear was meant to be mine.

The Last Couple of Weeks “with” Mr. R

(I think I may have waited a bit too long to write about this…)

The Wednesday evening before Thanksgiving, Mr. R took me out to dinner again. (Here’s our first date)

It wasn’t anything fancy. Just a burger and fries at Village Inn.

I was able to stay out late because I didn’t have to be home until 1:30am – Thursday was a work holiday for me, so I told Thing #1 I would drive her to work (and it was bloody cold!).

He had me home by my “curfew” and kissed me briefly before dropping me off.

Thanksgiving was nice (but that’s a different story with a different person and a different nice).

The next day (Friday afternoon), Mr. R asked if I would like to have dinner with him that evening.

Hmmm… I really enjoyed my Thanksgiving with Alaska…

But getting to know Mr. R is kinda challenging interesting.

We had a nice dinner. This time I picked the restaurant… He had a giant rib eye and I had fish tacos.

We talked about basic things: work and daily activities… He won’t talk to me about any of his family or any of his past, which means there isn’t much to talk about after catching up on current events. He told me about ice fishing and his new fish finder and how awesome it was; a couple funny stories about his friends and past adventures with them or by himself…

Dinner Date with Mr. R

Time

So, while I was on my Sk8-venture, Mr. R took really good care of me. Before we even left, he paid for my round-trip plane tickets! He picked me up from the airport and dropped me off after it was all over. Also, while we were there, I rode around with him on errands and he made sure that I was okay and had someone to look after me the entire time.

It was all very fatherly and loving and it felt just plain nice.

He is also old enough to be my father (well, not my father, because my father is in his 80s…).

Anyway… Last Friday night we went on our first official date: sushi dinner and a walk around the mall.

The Best Sk8-venture Ever!!

My weekend was just about as perfect as a vacation weekend could be.

Unlike Loserman last year, my ride (Mr R) was precisely on time.

Everyone arrived at the airport with plenty of time to get through security. We even had enough time to sit down and have a nice breakfast!

Breakfast on the way to KC

Eleven of us flew (on the same flight, mind you! One is missing from the pic in the far left corner) and one drove. It was unbelievable that so many people went along! 8 boys, 4 girls…

Everything went so smoothly: our flight was on time, we got good rental cars, we had time to stop and get groceries and lunch and alcohol, our rooms were ready when we got to the hotel/s (I stayed across the street because I booked my room in the skate party room block at the host hotel; their reservations were made too late to get the 5 rooms they needed)…

I Love My Skate Family

While I am away on my annual November Sk8venture, I thought I would be appropriate to post a skate video or two (and add a gratuitous plug for my friends)…

My buddy Jamal, his girl Sweet P and Scorpio (Scorpio isn’t in any of the videos 😦 ) are working together on a project called Roller Skate Reality Show. You can check out their Facebook group here or subscribe to Jamal‘s or The Wood Rydrz channel on YouTube.

A special shout-out to Roller Wonderboy. He came and spent the weekend with me a couple of years ago (here is where I wrote about the potential. I never actually wrote about the actual. My blog was brand new and I was still shy and afraid of being judged by readers… Silly, I know…)

And another video… Cuz I can…

Life Must Go On

FallRollFest

This November, for the third year in a row, I will be attending Kansas City, MO’s Fall Roll Fest.

Except this time will be different.

I’m not going with Loserman. He’s completely out of the picture.
